This volume is a re-publication of the memoirs of Captain Rees Howell Gronow, a dandy who lived the high life in Regency London and Paris. Gronow had a reputation as being a byronesque figure, “mad, bad, and dangerous to know”, and a contemporary noted that he 'committed the greatest follies, without in the slightest disturbing the points of his shirt collar.' His memoirs are a Flashman type view of gaudy highlife in post-war France and Britain.
